![]() Intellectual Property AssociateIMBcom Pty Ltd is a private company owned by The University of Queensland which commercialises the discoveries arising from the leading-edge research being undertaken in one of the country’s largest bioscience research organizations, The University’s Institute for Molecular Bioscience (IMB). IMBcom is actively involved in establishing and developing new biotechnology start-up companies and forging collaborative partnerships with industry, including contracting research and negotiating licences and assignments. We wish to employ an exceptional individual to work within our small, outcome-driven team to assist in the preparation and analysis of opportunities for commercialisation arising from IMB research and the preparation of appropriate project plans, assisting in patent filing and prosecution. Activities will involve working with scientists and outside parties to identify these opportunities, recommending and pursuing processes for their development and coordinating projects through to commercialisation. The position also entails project co-ordination including assistance with filing patents, assisting with patent/client communications, patent searching and other prior art searches, invention summaries, disclosure coordination, assist in coordination of IP audit and in the preparation of development concepts, executive summaries, commercial milestone development, business planning and commercial grant submissions Applicants should have graduate qualifications in an appropriate biotechnology discipline with extensive industry experience or post graduate scientific qualifications, ability to analyse a range of complex information and synthesise the key elements and issues, project management skills and ability to plan for and meet milestones and targets, high level communication skills including the ability to assimilate, comprehend and communicate a range of technical and commercial information to different audiences and expertise in intellectual property management, preparation of patents and how these processes relates to biotechnology.
